ALM Busy Circuits Jumble Henge
ALM Busy Circuits and Worng teamed up to create Jumble Henge, a 16-input stereo spectral mixer that filters and pans signals based on their input position. The module divides up the filtering and panning into four filter configurations, high, high-mid, low-mid, and low, arranged vertically. Sending a signal into inputs on the left side pans them left, inputting on the right side pans them to the right. Every input occupies a specific pan position to help separate the sounds while completing a full stereo image—based on the "soundstage" mixing concept. Conveniently, the second input on the top two rows is normalled to the third, making it easy to focus sounds in the center at all spectral ranges. As you go from low to high, the panning becomes wider with more inputs for the high-mid and high. This results in tighter low-frequency content and a wider spread of high-frequency content that the human ear is more attuned to hearing.
A stereo pair of external inputs sums with the 14 input channels for additional unfiltered sounds in the stereo field. The right input features normalization from the left input for use with mono signals. A single mix control controls the depth of all filters simultaneously. Jumble Henge provides a unique take on filtering and signal routing to make a dynamic and wide stereo field from mono and stereo sources.
Jumble Henge Features
- 16-input spectral mixer
- Separates signals into high, mid-high, mid-low, and low filtering
- Panning is achieved by input placement from left to right
- Each input is panned to a separate place in the stereo field
- External dry stereo input
- Mix knob controls depth of filtering
- Stereo output sums all inputs
- Eurorack module
- Width: 8hp
- Depth: 38mm
- Current draw: 70mA @ +12V, 70mA @ -12V
Jumble Henge is a space efficient solution for creating rich stereo mixes from a number of both mono and stereo sources, working great in a compact live system or more creatively explored in the studio. Mix down entire patches, sum stereo effect returns or create a complex feedback network all with an intuitive, musically focused approach.
Jumble Henge was designed in collaboration with Worng Electronics and is based on their existing larger and more featured ‘SoundStage’ module.
In this video we take a look at the features and explore unique patching with the Henge.
