API 312 500-Series Microphone Preamp

Adapted from Saul Walker's innovative design, the API 312 Mic Preamp is the heart of the API channel strip and one of the most sought-after preamps for the professional engineer, now adapted to the 500-series "lunchbox" format pioneered by API. Using their famed all-discrete circuitry, including API's proprietary 2520 op amp and custom output transformer, the 312 uses the same components found in all of API's preamp designs, from the 3124V, to the the A2D, to their studio consoles, in order to provide signature clarity and warmth to any microphone source. Offering up to 69dB of gain along with a -20dB pad switch, polarity inversion, selectable 48V phantom power, and of course the 3:1 transformer tap selection switch—unique to API—the 312 is a tried and true preamp for the discerning recordist.
