Arturia Minibrute 2S Noir

Arturia's MiniBrute 2S Noir is a limited-edition take on their fantastic semi-modular monophonic synthesizer, filled with modulation and sequencing functionality built to work with your computer, hardware synths, and even Eurorack gear. Built more for those looking to utilize Arturia's powerful sound and sequencing capabilities, MiniBrute 2S expands upon its subtractive roots with a 48-point patch bay for routing audio and modulation around the unit or among other modular systems. Looking at its signal flow, MiniBrute 2S starts with Arturia's fantastic selection of wavshapes within two VCOs. VCO 1 provides three independent wave shapes that each have their own unique timbral controls, including a saw to super saw, a square wave with pulse width control, and a triangle wave with what they refer to as a "metalizer", sharpening the edges and producing a gnarly timbre. VCO 2 offers a multitude of frequency ranges to compliment either a sine, saw, or square wave that can be mixed with all three of VCO 1's shapes, a white noise generator, and even an external input.

From there, MiniBrute 2S sculpts the mixed signals with Arturia's classic Steiner-Parker filter design with one of four flavors of filtering: low, band, or high pass or notch. The final stage of processing comes into play with the Brute Factor knob, adding Arturia's signature distortion to the entire signal for creating ripping and heavy sonic creations. All of these features can be modulated from the two independent LFOs, ADSR envelope, and loopable AD envelope for creating wiggly, dynamic, and lively tones. The lower half of MiniBrute 2S features a highly functional sequencer section sporting 16 pads and 16 encoders that are capable of numerous tasks. The sequencer can save up to 64 sequence memories, each containing up to 64-steps of pitch, gate, velocity, and pressure information, all of which can be programmed real-time or even step-recorded. Additional features include arpeggiating or looping live input as well as sequence chaining to create fleshed out ideas.

Full MIDI I/O over 5-pin DIN or USB along with analog clocking provide a number of ways to pair the MiniBrute 2S with your DAW, hardware, or modular system. Coming in a quite stealthy and luxuriant limited color option, the MiniBrute 2S Noir from Arturia is a fantastic centerpiece for banging out anything from acid lines, booming bass, and more in your studio or on stage.
