Unlike the Boss or Roland processors of years past, the SY-1 does not require the use of any special pickups or modifications to your instrument—it simply drops into your pedalboard like any other pedal. While it has only a handful of controls, Boss has packed 121 different sounds inside the SY-1, ranging from organs and analog strings to synth leads, pads, and an abundance of sequenced and special effect sounds. For further tone shaping flexibility, the SY-1 contains both an expression pedal input and send and return jacks, for patching in other effects in the processing signal path.
