Boye Toyes The Almanac

Play the music of the spheres with The Almanac from Boye Toyes, obtaining spatial relationships of celestial bodies via GPS to create ten CV signals for use in your Eurorack system. Power up The Almanac and it will establish a GPS lock on its current location, allowing it to compute the altitude of the Sun, Moon, and Planets in relation to wherever you happen to be patching on Earth. This data is then represented at the ten CV outputs from 0-5V, with 0V for all altitudes below the horizon.

Additional modes are accessed via switches on the back of the module. Nadir mode changes the scaling of values to deliver 0V at -90 degrees, 5V at +90 degrees, and 0V at the horizon, letting you track celestial bodies before they arrive on your side of the sky. Phase mode replaces Pluto's output with one that tracks the Moon's phase. Heliocentric mode tracks a planet's distance from its orbital position closest to the Sun, also tracking the Moon's phase and the orbit of Earth on the Sun output. In the event The Almanac is unable to find a GPS signal within an hour, it will automatically derive CV based on a randomly selected position from a list of astronomically significant places and times.

Even in shorter time frames, The Almanac adds a fun way to take inspiration from your current moment, providing voltages that represent your specific place and time in the Cosmos.
