Clatters Machines Sibilla

Sibilla from Clatters is a DSP-based stereo oscillator that turns the jagged terrain of a conceptual mountain into a pair of waveforms. More than just a normal oscillator signal path, the Sibilla uses a network of delays, LFOs, white noise, and carefully-managed feedback to shape the sine and saw waves. Each channel is the output of an independent feedback loop, and each loop is made up of a main sub sinusoidal wave oscillator and two saw and sine waves with frequencies affected by different parameters for each side. The right channel gets altered by the generation of harmonics, and the left by subharmonics—and both channels get minor alterations by two pairs of Grains that add randomness to the waves' amplitude spectra. White noise can be added to both sides and internal LFOs add movement. The audio signal is split into four different delay lines after going through a resonant low pass filter.

That might all sound like a lot—and in fact, it is. But understanding precisely how each control works isn't absolutely crucial: the point is that Sibilla presents a novel way of creating an astonishing range of stereo tones, from stacked subharmonics to peacefully undulating soundscapes, grinding drones, and much more. It can be stark; it can be deeply detailed; it can be brutal; and quite often, it can be beautiful. Sibilla from Clatters is is one of the most unique oscillators out there and perfect for any type of setup.
