Doepfer's A-100 Mini System is an ideal way to dive into modular synthesis, offering all of the typical synth voice "building blocks" as well as the option to expand into a larger, more personal setup. With two beefy analog oscillators, a thumpy lowpass filter, ring mod, and classic means of signal control, the Mini System is modeled after the classic monophonic subtractive workflow. The A-190-4 MIDI interface makes it simple to interface with MIDI controllers or a computer, keeping things easily usable in any electronic music workflow. And of course, the essence of modular synthesis is its expandability: the Doepfer LC9 case offers two unfilled rows, allowing users to add in modules of their choice to develop an instrument that fits into their individual workflow.
