Doepfer's A-188-1aV is a peculiar module that makes creative use of a BBD chip for effects from Karplus-Strong string simulation to short delays and outright glitched-out noise. In this 512-stage version of the delay finds its strength in effects generated via extremely short delays: flanging, Karplus-Strong, waveguide-like effects, and more. And of course, underclocking the BBD via the internal clock or external clock can yield incredibly gnarly, crunchy effect as well. Not your grandpa's analog delay, the Doepfer BBD module is all about experimenting with BBD abuse, novel external feedback loops, feedback polarity inversion, and more. And of course, the Vintage Edition faceplate just serves to illustrate how truly diabolical this module can be.
