Jackson Audio Asabi

Designed with Mateus Asato, Asabi brings the heat by combining so many Jackson Audio staples into one overdrive and distortion pedal: analog plug-in modules, switchable clipping modes, MIDI control, and much more. It's hard to imagine how an analog distortion pedal could be more flexible—frankly, we're unsure if it's possible because Asabi is just that capable.

The default voicing of the Asabi is based on Marshall's legendary JCM 800, so you can count on this pedal to produce searing high gain tones when you need them. With Volume and Gain knobs, plus a 3-band Baxandall EQ and Presence control, you have the ability to dial in your ideal tone. Like other Jackson Audio pedals, you can even go a step further and change the character of this circuit by switching its clipping mode. Hold down the Dist footswitch for one second, then tap again to toggle between four different circuits: Amber (LED / Guv'nor), Green (symmetrical / TS-808), Blue (asymmetrical), and Magenta (symmetrical high gain).

For further versatility, the Asabi's distortion may be pushed even harder via the overdrive channel, with its own Volume, Tone, and Drive controls. It also features its own switchable clipping modes—these are identical to the main distortion channel, meaning you can mix and match the different circuits at different points in your gain staging.

Jackson Audio included some other nifty features in Asabi. Gain Cycle allows you to divide the current Gain knob setting into four discrete steps, where by tapping both footswitches at once you can step through different amounts of gain from low to high. And of course, MIDI control is available for remote control of Asabi's switching features, including gain cycle, effect bypass, and even the clipping modes. Possibly the be-all, end-all of drive pedals, Asabi is poised to take a lead role on your pedalboard.
