Jomox Mod FM

Jomox presents Mod FM, a behemoth eight-voice FM synthesizer in Eurorack format, offering deep configuration, real-time patchable modulation, internal effects, MIDI I/O, and more. The core of Mod FM is a 4-operator FM architecture, as used in classic FM synths like the Yamaha DX9 and TX81z. But rather than using pre-defined algorithms with set carrier and modulator relationships, Mod FM employs a matrix arrangement where any operator may be modulated by the other three. This makes it possible to create unstable and gnarly feedback FM patches, but in cases where you do want more musical stability, Mod FM offers 26 classic algorithms from the DX9 as starting points for tweaking the matrix. In either case, don't worry about remembering all those knob settings: Mod FM offers preset storage for easy recall.

Mod FM isn't just a digital beast: each voice features its own analog filter and VCA for a nice hybrid architecture. Specifically, the SSI2140 chip, the same one used in the current Prophet-5 among others, lends itself to a variety of smooth filtering sounds. Blend between lowpass, bandpass, and highpass responses in 12dB/oct mode, or use the 24dB/oct lowpass for ladder filter-esque sounds.
