Keeley Parallax

Parallax is Keeley's ode to the dense space effects of shoegaze, meaning that this delay and reverb pedal is your ticket to the washes of sound that you crave. As a sort of mashup of other Keeley designs, the delay side comes from their Caverns pedal while the reverb comes from the Loomer and Reallizer pedals. Combined together into one housing, Parallax gives you all that you need for thick, shoegaze-y vibes—minus a good distortion and fuzz.

for the delay side, Keeley keeps Parallax straightforward, making it incredibly easy to dial in the sound that you need. Wide ranging delay times from 30 to 650ms and repeats allow for subtle slapbacks to slowly decaying loops, while a three-position Modulation switch gives Light, Deep, or no time fluctuations for delays as chorus-y as you'd like.

The reverb side is where Parallax's unabashed love for shoegaze becomes clear, with three modes covering a range of classic sounds. The first of its three modes, Soft Focus, is a not-so-subtle recreation of the similarly-named patch on Yamaha's FX500 multi-effects unit, which combines dense reverb with delay and chorus for a truly thick sound. Reverse Reverb mashes up patches from the Yamaha SPX90 and Alesis MidiVerb II, which stacked swelling reverse delays in such a way to emulate reverb. As an added bonus, this mode features offset-guitar inspired vibrato, triggered by the dynamics of your playing and the amount of "trem bar movement" set with the Depth control. The final mode Hall includes an octave-up pitch shifter in the feedback loop, allowing for the ever ascending shimmer patches that never get old.

Each side of Parallax features its own bypass switch, so you can totally use the delay and reverb independently of each other, then kick them on at the same time for dramatic effect. As a nice bonus, the audio input and output jacks use TRS jacks for send/return effects processing between the delay and reverb. So whether you want to add distortion or modulation between the channels or incorporate the Parallax within your switching system, this is a dual-effects pedal that plays nicely with others on your board.
