Korg Kronos

Combining a full-sized 88-key keybed with nine incredible synthesis engines, Kronos from Korg is a powerhouse of a workstation that captures the imagination. The RH3 weighted action keybed is expressive and responsive to your touch with four resistance zones. An integrated 8" SVGA touchscreen is the centerpiece of Kronos, providing a clear indication of settings and an easy hands-on way to adjust parameters. A ribbon interface and four-axis joystick provide performative methods to alter your sounds on the fly quickly and dynamically. A 16-track sequencer enables you to sequence all your sounds at the same time. The nine built-in synthesis engines produce an incredible range of sounds from simple to incredibly complex.

Modeled from some of the most prestigious grand pianos from Germany and Japan, the SGX-2 piano sound engine faithfully captures these classical instruments' intricacies. Combining unlooped stereo samples with modeling of string resonance and una corda playing, you won't know the difference between the SGX-2 and the real thing. The EP-1 electric piano sound engine uses MDS (Multi-Dimensional Synthesis) to accurately model six well-loved electric piano sounds. Each of the models features their own amp, cabinet, speaker, and vintage effects, specifically designed to bring out the best parts of your performance. Sharing the name and capturing the original CX-3 tonewheel organ's spirit, the CX-3 sound engine has been revamped with the latest technology. Accurately modeling the vacuum tube warmth and providing a selection of rotary speakers, this engine was carefully engineered with all the characteristics of an actual vintage organ.

Not based on samples, the STR-1 physical modeling engine recreates a stringed instrument's behavior. This synthesis technique provides the sound of stringed instruments from acoustic guitars to harpsichords and even hypothetical stringed sounds from instruments that don't exist. MOD-7 is a frequency and phase modulation engine that take inspiration from the Korg Prophecy and Z1. Adding PCM sample playback, multi-mode filters, extensive waveshaping, and a modular patching environment, the MOD-7 is capable of a vast range of sounds. HD-1 is a high definition PCM sound engine that captures many of Korg's PCM-based synthesizers. Korg painstakingly poured all their PCM know-how into the HD-1, and it shows in its performance.

Many regard the Korg MS-20 as one of the most captivating analog monosynths of all time. The semi-modular interface and distinctive filter sound make it a classic, and it has gone back into production several times. The MS-20EX engine found in Kronos uses Component Modeling Technology to capture every detail of the analog circuitry and adds full polyphonic playing to the mix. First released in 1981, Korg's Polysix synthesizer boasted six-voice polyphony and program memory in addition to an excellent self-oscillating four-pole filter and onboard effects. PolysixEX captures all that functionality and recreates it with some new exciting features. First included with Korg's Open Architecture Synthesis Studio (OASYS), the AL-1 analog modeling synthesizer captures the feel of analog with digital control. The complex waveforms, filter morphing, and modulation routing options make it more potent than it first appears.

Add everything from a simple reference beat to complex rhythmic arrangements with the Drum Tracks. Korg's Kay Algorithmic Real-time Music Architecture (or KARMA) provides algorithmically generated backing tracks that respond to your playing style. Sample internal or external sounds and load them into the Open Sampling System to create new sampled instruments. Dynamic Voice Allocation helps to layer the voices and create natural-sounding polyphony. A collection of 16 onboard effects processors help bring your sounds to the next level by adding texture and dynamics to them.

Record all these dazzling instruments with the onboard 16-track audio recorder. Recording in 24-bit/48kHz quality, it faithfully captures all aspects of your performance. Equipped with a 64GB solid-state hard drive, it has plenty of room for all your presets, instruments, and recordings. A full-sized keyboard, deep synthesis possibilities, and an inviting and an easy to use touchscreen combine to make this workstation powerful and versatile.
