We love seeing great things get even better, and Korg's microKORG2 brings a modern classic in 21st-century synthesizer design to a new level with an updated sound engine, numerous enhancements, and more. Few modern synthesizers have had such a profound impact on musicians of all sounds and styles, but the versatility and accessibility of the microKORG speak volumes. Now in this new version, Korg expands the possibilities even further thanks to its updated sound engine and screen-based interface but maintains the core form factor and ease of use that made the original so beloved.

With all that is new in the microKORG, Korg recognizes the power of its easy to use interface—largely remaining the same from the prior model. The process of browsing sounds is still just as easy, thanks to the large rotary switch selecting sound banks based upon genres, like Pop/Rock and Hiphop/R&B to Ambient/Electronica and even Game/SFX. Even so, additional layers are available with the Classic, Modern, and Future banks, plus a dedicated User bank for keeping track of your own sounds. Whether you're tweaking a preset or starting from scratch, the microKORG's vibrant 2.8" display ensures you can easily keep tabs on what's going on. The five knobs to the right correspond to the color-coded dials on the display, with clear lists of possible parameter selections below each knob.

Where the original featured a beloved vocoder, the new microKORG goes above and beyond in its expanded Vocal Processor. The vocoder returns, of course, but the addition of Hard Tune and Harmonizer modes offers creative and stylistic options to vocalists and performers of all types. You can even add delay, reverb, and other effects to spice up your chosen vocal mode. And don't worry—microKORG still includes the gooseneck condenser microphone to get you started.

microKORG extends your creativity thanks to the new built-in Loop Recorder. Capture some chords, a riff, or even a vocal phrase, then play another part on top and keep building layers to accompany yourself. Other tools like the onboard arpeggiator make it even easier to craft interesting music, making the microKORG practically indispensable as a songwriting tool. But whether you're in it as a songwriter, sound designer, or producer in need of a flexible and compact synthesizer with a rich legacy, it's hard to deny the power of the new microKORG.
