Korg Prologue 8

Prologue is Korg's new flagship analog synthesizer and a big sister to the Monologue and Minilogue.

This 8 voice analog polysynth features powerful analog circuitry, a 49-note keyboard, a digital multi-engine, and several DSP-based effects. Beyond that, one of the Prologue's most ingenious features is its open-source firmware. This gives users the ability to customize oscillators and effects programs, effectively making the Prologue all their own.

Internally, Prologue sports wave shaping capabilities and a two-pole lowpass filter that excels in the creation of punchy basslines. From there, its powerful multi-engine allows for the integration of digital waveforms and FM, meaning users are not resigned to the analog realm. The multi-engine is comprised of three distinct sound engines (noise generator, VPM oscillator, and user oscillator), all of which can be combined with Prologue's analog VCOs to compound its sonic potential. The noise generator lends itself to the creation of percussive sounds and strange effects, the VPM produces sharp metallic sounds with complex overtones that are about as far away from analog as one could get, and the user oscillator allows users to load up to sixteen custom oscillator programs.
