The most important part to your video synth system is being able to actually see your patch on a screen, and the ESG3 from LZX Industries does just that by encoding your RGB modular signals into a component or composite video signal. Unlike Eurorack sound synthesis, you cannot take raw outputs and mix them externally, you need a video encoder to convert the voltages to either an analog component signal—the set of three RCA ports labeled Y (green), Pb (blue), Pr (red)—or to the more familiar composite—the single yellow RCA jack that is present on many TVs. The ESG3 gives you both options with a plethora of sizes, refresh rates, and sync options.

Intuitive and simple to use, all you need are three sources for R, G, B and the ESG3 does the rest. Equipped with an RGB proc amp, you have discrete control over the brightness and contrast for each of the color channels with the capability to invert the signal as well as mute the channel completely. Fifteen different output and sync references are available, so you should have no trouble getting your video signal to play well with your CRT, projector, or video capture card. Simply put, the LZX ESG3 is essential to your video rig, and is key to displaying your visuals in classic resolutions or stunning HD.
