Make Noise Echophon

The Echophon, from Make Noise, is a Pitch Shifting Delay/Echo module. It is another module that was coded by Tom Erbe of Soundhack. It has smooth pitch shifting, as well as reverse delay for all classic tape-like delay effects. It has patch points for the feedback output and feedback input, allowing more FX processors to be patched between the feedback, creating all sorts of esoteric delay effects. A Freeze button and Gate input holds that millisecond of audio until pressed again. There are also clock inputs and outputs for synchronizing the delay time, or synchronizing other units to the Echophon. Like with all Make Noise modules, every parameter is Voltage Controlled.

Echophon Features

  • Pitch Shifting Echo Module
  • DSP Engineered by Tom Erbe of SoundHack
  • Shift Pitch of signal +/- 2 Octaves
  • Exponential control of delay time -Maximum Time 1.7 Seconds, Minimum Time 7 ms
  • Tempo input allows synchronization of Echoes to multiple or division of an external Clock
  • Two independent internal digital Feedback paths (Loop 1 and Loop 2)
  • External Analog Feedback Path for filtered or processed echoes
  • FREEZE button/ gate input allows for hold, stutter and sampling techniques
  • 24 bit ADC/DAC, 32bit processing, 16bit delay storage operating at 40khz
  • Vactrol based Mix circuit for smooth blending of dry and wet signals
  • All Analog Dry Signal Path
  • Voltage Control over ALL parameters
  • Pairs well with the Phonogene
  • Eurorack Module
  • 20 HP Width
  • 30mm Depth

The Echophon is usually used for pitch-shifting and delay, but it is open-ended enough to be useful for a number of other time based effects. Thanx Tom Erbe (soundhack.com) and Michael Hetrick (unfilteredaudio.com) for patch ideas.
