Malstrom Mandrake

The Mandrake from Malstrom is a kick drum module that offers plenty of control over the sonic characteristics and dynamics of your sound, thanks to an original circuit design. Divided into two sections, Hit and Body, the Hit section is a resonating filter that can cut through the mix while the Body section is another resonating filter that gives you the option for saturating the signal while offering damping and frequency adjustments. A unique Accent input gives you a switchable option to modulate an internal VCA or trigger another similar but sonically distinct drum sound. Tune your bass drum easily with the large Frequency knob and adjust the amount of pitch modulation with the two central sliders, all of which are voltage controlled with a V/Oct input available for generating bass lines. Create nice ducking effects thanks to the Envelope output and enhance the sound of the kick with a Clean Up switch that adds a high pass set to 25Hz to remove rumble and a frequency dip at 300Hz for clarity. Inspired by the clubs but versatile enough for any genre, the Mandrake from Malstrom is a great compact kick module.
