Great at handling a multitude of signals and applying a smooth and enriching layer of tube-flavor, Manley's FORCE is a four-channel, vacuum tube microphone preamp offering high headroom for any kind of input. With Manley's combination of premium parts and a heavy, strong sound, the FORCE takes its preamp design from their tried and true CORE, capable of handling mic, line, or instrument signal levels. The microphone input sports gold plated XLR connectors that are met by IRON mic input transformers, while the direct input can handle any level of chugging and shredding with a 1/4" jack supporting up to 10 MOhms of impedance.
Focusing on the channel features, we have quite a flexible input level control reaching levels up to +40dB or +50dB depending on the position of the Hi/Low switch—this can be configured to +50dB/+60dB via an internal jumper. The input level control not only acts as a source of gain but can also attenuate signals, creating a variable pad design rather than the typical one-push pad. Further pre-amplification options include a phase-shift control for fully inverting your signal and an engageable 120Hz set high pass filter for cleaning up any unnecessary rumble and low end from your bass-lacking inputs.
The final and most important stage is amplifying the signal via the dual-triode vacuum tube, powered by Manley's trademarked POWER PSU for efficiently running each tube with the cleanest and highest voltage. These high voltage tubes not only add a filling character to your sound but also supply insanely high headroom shown by the massive amount of gain and dynamic range of up to 118dB!
