Packing their stellar passive equalizer in a fine-tuned format for mastering engineers, the Manley Mastering Version Massive Passive is a stereo four-band equalizer with loads of tone-shaping controls. Much like the original Massive Passive, the Mastering version features an all passive EQ design built around metal-film resistors, film capacitors, and hand-wound inductors to produce a natural and organic sound while their solid, high-voltage vacuum tubes do all the heavy lifting for amplification afterwards. Additional similarities include the same eleven-position frequency knobs with the same frequencies per band as the original as well as the same boost/cut and shelf/bell switching.

With a few mechanical design changes as well as range extensions and contractions, the Mastering Version Massive Passive takes on a more pointillistic approach for easy and decisive choices much like in mastering. For instance, each band's gain and bandwidth controls are now mechanically detented for simple recall from session to session, as well as defined and set choices for you to choose from. Similarly, the final channel gain-stage controls have changed to stepped increments of 0.5dB for a range of +/-2.5dB for necessary gain staging or adding extra oomph to your master.

One of the more substantial differences noted in the Mastering Version includes both gain and frequency changes, with each band only boosting or cutting +/-11dB and the high pass filters ranges being modified to focus heavily on fine-tuned low and high frequencies. Both filters sport an 18dB/oct slope at every frequency except for the low pass filter's 52kHz notch which features a steeper 30dB/oct slope. Supporting both balanced and unbalanced inputs for a variety of use-cases, the Manley Mastering Version Massive Passive is a spectacular equalizer for bringing any track to life in its final stages of production.
