Moog Theremini

Moog’s Theremini is based on their oldest design: the theremin. The theremin is an instrument played solely by using hand gestures and distance in order to control volume and pitch parameters. One handy feature of the Theremini is the onboard tuner, which lets users see what notes they are playing. Not hitting the correct note? Fear not, the unit also features a dedicated pitch correction knob, which automatically keeps the sound in tune with a scale or root-note predetermined by the user.

The Theremini features 32 wavetable-based sounds, with dedicated buttons for selecting both the root note and scale, controls governing the playing range, and a variable ping pong delay effect for generating extra spooky vibes. In terms of connectivity, the unit features a 1/8” headphone out, internal speaker (which is disengaged when headphones are connected), two 1/4” outs for true stereo operation, a Pitch/CV output (useful for manipulating external sequencers and synthesizers), and a USB Mini port for precise DAW synchronization.

If all this wasn’t enough, the Theremini also includes dedicated editing software that grants unprecedented access to the unit’s synthesizer engine, giving users the ability to create entirely new sounds, alter existing presets, and upload the fruits of their labor to share with a network of other users.
