MOTU 16A 16 In/Out Thunderbolt Audio Interface

The MOTU 16A is a flexible Thunderbolt audio interface boasting 32 inputs, 32 outputs, 48-channel mixing capabilities, and superior latency prevention. In terms of I/O, the 16A features sixteen balanced/unbalanced TRS inputs, AVB audio networking, and two 8-channel ADAT optical ports.

The 16A utilizes its Thunderbolt connectivity for all it’s worth. With Thunderbolt, users have access to 256 channels of computer I/O (that’s 128 each way). These channels can be used for a variety of applications, including routing audio to the 16A’s inputs and outputs, as well as the interface’s internal 48-channel mixer and audio network streams.

Crucially, the 16A is controlled by software that resides in a web app produced by the hardware. This allows users to control the 16A via web browser on any computer, tablet, or smart phone connected to the same LAN. This software is compatible with both Mac, iOS, Windows, Linux, and Android operating systems.

Routing signals on the 16A is a synch thanks to its routing grid, which allows users a straightforward means of routing input signals from a connected DAW, the interface’s own I/Os, mixer inputs, or any signal generated over the AVB network. This works no matter whether the source is analog or digital.
