Noise Engineering Basimilus Iteritas Alter

The Noise Engineering Basimilus Iteritas Alter is a slimmer, updated version of the original. The module is essentially a complex drum voice comprised of six oscillators and a noise source. Additionally, the module makes use of three algorithms that influence how the oscillators interact; even better, each algorithm has a dedicated gate input for effortless activation. Skin mode is akin to classic additive synthesis, while Metal achieves much denser waveforms due to its cross-modulation of the oscillators. The final mode, Liquid, is true to its namesake in that it easily achieves wet, drippy percussive sounds.

Using the pitch and spread controls allows users to control the fundamental and displace the other five oscillators across various ranges for intriguing timbral alterations. The module’s harm control affects each oscillator’s harmonic decay, meaning that their individual volume is adjusted in accordance with each distinct decay value. There’s also a built-in envelope with corresponding CV input and variable AD parameters, and a wavefolder that serves as the nexus for all of the Alter’s sound sources, and can be used to aid in the creation of complex, discordant percussion sounds.

Noise Engineering Basimilus Iteritas Alter Demo
The Basimilus Iteritas Alter from Noise Engineering is the improved edition of their famous original. It is a complex drum voice created using six oscillators and one noise source for additive synthesis, with various algorithms deciding on how they modulate, interpolate and combine. In Skin mode, it uses a basic additive synthesizer technique that simulates instruments with less complex overtones. The Metal setting starts adding in cross-modulation between the six oscillators, for much denser and complex waveforms. A Liquid mode has been added to the Basimilus Iteritas Alter for more drippy type drum sounds.
Akai MPC X Sampling & CV Sequencing Eurorack Modular
This video shows how you can use a eurorack modular synthesizer with an Akai MPC-X by sampling and also sequencing the synthesizer with the CV outputs on the MPC-X. The drum sounds are samples of the Noise Engineering Basimilus Iteritas Alter and the synth sound is made with two Make Noise STOs, an Intellijel uFold, 2hp Mix, an ALM Pip Slope and Make Noise LxD.
Ataraxic Iteritas With Basimilus & Manis Sequenced By René 2
The Noise Engineering Ataraxic Iteritas is an oscillator based on the first Noise Engineering module, the Ataraxic Translatron. The Ataraxic Iteritas goes from beefy mellow bass sounds to metallic and screeching. The drums in this video were made with the Basimilus Iteritas Alter and Manis Iteritas, we used the new Make Noise René to sequence the three synth voices.
