Sequential Trigon-6

Boasting legendary East Coast synthesis sounds in a tabletop package, the desktop version of Sequential's Trigon-6 is a polyphonic powerhouse of a synthesizer—the final instrument to be designed by Dave Smith. Much like the Prophet-6 and OB-6 before it, respectively channeling the sounds of classic instruments from Sequential Circuits and Oberheim in modern packages, the Trigon-6 is the Sequential spin on the iconic sound of Moog synthesizers. Indeed, this triple-oscillator and ladder filter-equipped instrument contains the warm, singing sounds of the most iconic synthesizers of all time, with the addition of polyphony, abundant control capabilities, and modern Sequential appointments such as MPE, the Vintage knob, and more.

Though Moog might have been the source of inspiration, Dave Smith leveraged his expansive knowledge of synthesizer design to build the Trigon-6 oscillators and filters from scratch. Three true, analog VCOs per each of the six voices can each generate triangle, sawtooth, and square waveforms. For optional grit or chaos, the output of the oscillators may be used to drive the filter harder or feedback into themselves for instabilities and bizarre textures. As a fun bonus and nod to the original Minimoog, oscillator 3 may be used as an LFO—of course, the Trigon-6 features its own global LFO, but having an additional LFO available for each voice affords unique, per-voice modulation opportunities.

Perhaps contributing the most to any synthesizer's sonic traits, the Trigon-6 features a classic transistor ladder filter as originally heard on Bob Moog's original timeless instruments. Here, the option to switch between a standard four-pole and a milder two-pole slope provides some additional sonic sauce. A dedicated filter envelope can provide harmonic contour to your sounds, along with keyboard pitch tracking and velocity sensitivity. That envelope, along with Oscillator 3, are available as sources in the Polymod routing section, available to routed into controlling oscillator pitches, pulse-width, filter cutoff, and feedback amount

Trigon-6 features a number of ways to polish off your sounds. Analog distortion and pristine digital effects including delay and reverb all provide depth and dimension to your patches—but Trigon-6's raw tones are definitely enough to create immense, jaw-dropping timbres. And we can't forget the Vintage knob—a new Sequential staple that imparts voice-to-voice variation not unlike an antique synthesizer. Add in support for MPE controllers for per-note expressivity, and you'll find Trigon-6 to be more than capable of conveying your sonic message.
