Soundforce Dual Filter

The Soundforce Dual Filter is an affordable dual OTA-based filter that is perfect for lush filter sweeps, stereo filtering, or pinging for percussive sounds. Based on the second generation MS-20 filter, it features both 12dB/oct lowpass and 6dB/oct high pass modes. Both filters have jumpers on the back to switch between lowpass or highpass filtering.

There are two audio inputs per filter with a level control for input 1. Each of the filters have two frequency CV inputs with attenuverters, plus resonance CV control with attenuator. Resonance CV control is something not always seen on filters, and provides an additional dimension of modulation to the filter.

As on classic Korg synths, you can use the filters in series to create a dual peak bandpass filter with one of the filters in lowpass mode and one in highpass. Using the same modulation source for both filters will create smooth bandpass filter sweeps, while inverting one of the modulation sources will make the band width shift apart. Mix and match modulation sources to create unique dual peak filtering effects.

The filters do self oscillate, creating a sine wave oscillator and works well for percussion patches. It can also be pinged by setting the resonance just before self oscillation and sending short triggers or envelopes to the audio input. Audio rate modulation works great for creating vocal tones, particularly when the filters are configured as a bandpass filter. This is a fantastic filter that provides solid filtering and can be configured for a variety of uses.
