Spaceman Effects Ixion

Spaceman Effects' Ixion is an optical compressor with external sidechain input that delivers exceptional tonal quality and dynamics to any instrument. You get all your standard compressor controls: Level, Threshold, and Mix, along with some other helpful features. The Contour control is a unique loudness-weighted filter when turned CCW and goes flat when turned CW. Contour is perfect for keeping the bottom-end thick, while the Treble control lets you fine tune the high-end. The Sidechain input can accept a TS cable or TRS for stereo, expression or volume pedals to control the sidechaining. Placed between the Contour and Threshold controls, the Sidechain input is great for sonic exploration. Spaceman's Ixion is a versatile addition to your pedalboard that will unlock some truly exceptional magic.

Spaceman Effects: Ixion // Optical Compressor
The Spaceman Effects Ixion is an optical photocell compressor pedal designed with maximum versatility and silky smooth, round tones in mind. With a fully featured control set, it can go places the typical comp stompbox can only dream of. Its Mix knob goes from 95% wet to 95% dry, letting you get studio-style parallel compression sounds right on your pedalboard, and the Treble and Contour knobs let you keep your tone intact even under the heaviest squash. The Ixion’s sidechain input really sets it apart from the pack – just plug in an external signal, from a drum machine or a whole chain of pedals, to trigger all sorts of unique compression effects, from subtle throb to dramatic pumping. In this demo video, we take the Spaceman Ixion compressor on an experimental sonic journey on both guitar and bass, employing its sidechain feature with a drum machine to achieve faux-backwards guitar sounds, as well as using its innate tonal thickness and hefty output to fatten up some low, dirty tones.
