Tiptop Audio MISO

Tiptop's MISO is a mixer, inverter, scaler, offset generator, and crossfading module designed to handle everything from simple voltage processing to complex signal shaping and experimentation. While on its surface it may seem to be a simple mixer, its functionality extends well beyond basic utility into the realm of voltage mangling and waveform twisting.

MISO offers four channels of voltage scaling, polarization, and offset, each with their own individual outputs. Each pair of channels offers a dedicated mix output. Each of these two-channel mixers is connected internally to either side of a central crossfader, making it possible to seamlessly blend between the two "submixes" both manually and under voltage control.

MISO clearly offers a ton of useful utility as a simple voltage processor, but can do much more when used in abnormal conditions: by patching from one of the mix outputs to the crossfader's CV input, for instance, an animated blend of all of the incoming signals can be generated. Try patching separate waveshapes into each channel and then animate the crossfading for dynamic waveshaping—try this at audio rate for bizarre timbre modulation effects, or at slower rates for smooth fades. Use it as a signal router to send different audio sources to a single effect chain, or use it to dynamically route control voltages! MISO, despite its seemingly utilitarian purpose, can do so much more—just add patch cables and re-discover how powerful a good tool can be.
